Upcoming Community Events
The Chatt Hills Parks Commission and Chatt Hills Community Outreach invite you to join Chatt Hills resident Giff Beaton on a bird walk in Campbellton Park on Sunday, April 28, from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. This will be during the peak northward migration period of neo-tropical songbirds and the approximately two-mile, mostly level walk will include meadow, forest and riparian habitats. In past years, 40+/- species have been identified on similar walks. This walk will be appropriate for expert and novice birders alike.
Charles Seabrook, Atlanta Journal-Constitution environmental columnist writes of Giff Beaton, “He has been called Georgia’s Dean of Birding because of his unsurpassed knowledge of the state’s birds and the several Books he has authored or co-authored on the feathered creatures. He could also be called the Dean of Dragonflies.” However, Giff’s expertise does not stop there. Those fortunate enough to have been on one of his guided nature walks know that his range of knowledge extends to fungi, trees, insects and just about any living creature.
Meet at 8:00 A.M. sharp in the boat ramp parking lot at Campbellton Park, 8655 Cochran Rd. SW, Fairburn, GA 30213 (in the city of Chattahoochee Hills). No parking passes or fees are required at this location. Wear sturdy shoes that you do not mind getting muddy. Bring water and your own binoculars.
This event will take place if there is a light rain. However, the event will be cancelled in the event of severe thunderstorms, lightning, or high water. If cancelled, registered participants will receive email notice by 7:00 am on April 28.
The event is limited to 25 participants. There is no charge, but you must register at: www.chatthillscommunityoutreach.com.
